I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me,
Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me.
I tremble to know that for me he was crucified, that for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died.
I marvel that he would descend from his throne divine
to rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine,
that he should extend his great love unto such as I,
sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify.
Oh it is wonderful that he should care for me enough to die for me!
Oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me!
I think of his hands pierced and bleeding to pay the debt!
Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget?
No, no, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat, until at the glorified throne I kneel at his feet.
Oh, it is wonderful, wonderful to me!
These are pictures from my last two family vacations. I’m finally ready to post the pictures from my trip to Temple Square in Salt Lake City. I Stand All Amazed is my favorite hymn. I am amazed that Jesus Christ has the capacity to love as perfectly as he does. As I was crying yesterday, sulkily staring out the windows at the beautiful scenery passing by, I thought of my Savior. I thought of how he knows me.
I may not be a celebrity or have any sort of status in this world but I know he knows me. I know he loves me and I know he was aware of my pain yesterday. If it’s important to us it’s important to him, regardless of how big or small our thoughts are. The lyrics of this hymn sum up my thoughts better than I can. I know my Savior lives and I know he loves each of us. I see evidence of his love all around me, especially in the experiences people share on their blogs. He knows us. He loves us.
Any Christian who passes through Salt Lake City should make the effort to stop to see the Christus at Temple Square it is an awe inspiring sight. One of the ladies in our Ward bore her testimony yesterday and spoke of recently sitting admiring the statue and contemplating the great love the Savior has for each of us when she saw two little boys run up the ramp and start to climb on the base of the statue. When their Mom came up and instead of bawling them out she took each of them and held them up so they could touch the nail prints in his feet and bore her testimony of the great love that Jesus has for them. Such a touching moment. The Lord does know each of us and what we need and what is best for us.
I agree that any Christian should see the Christus at Temple Square. It’s by far my favorite. Every time I walk up the ramp I remember the awe I felt as a child walking up that ramp. The spiral mural of the heavens is gorgeous and I love all the space around Christ. The story you shared is very touching. What a wonderful mother.
Hi Tristan,
Lovely post. The hymn and the photos drew me right in. I can feel your devotion in your words.
I visited the link. I’ve been to the main site before from a previous post. I like their presentation of the music. LDS does a very good job on the web.

Hi Ray,
Thanks! This hymn hasn’t been sung in church for a couple years. It used to always make me tear up when I was a snotty teenager. The interesting thing is that after this post we have sung the song twice in church! Once in Sacrament Meeting. That’s when it’s usually sung – right before the Sacrament is blessed and passed. The other time was in Relief Society. That’s the class for women. That seemed strange to me at first since I’ve never sung that song there. It was really neat to hear just women’s voices. It went perfectly with the lesson. Pretty cool.
I hope you listened to the song when you went to the link. Based on what you said I think you did. It’s so pretty. I love it.
